I'm using a .25" compression bit to cut .75 veneer core plywood @ 2 IPM with a PC router (21000 RPM)in one pass. Could I push for more speed or am I maxed out already? I haven't noticed any evidence of major bit deflection. Just curious. Kip

Kip,
Do you mean 2 inches per minute or 2 inches a second?
You could go to http://www.onsrud.com and get to the PDF of their product catalog. In the back it has formulas for calculating feeds and speeds. I don't know how these relate to other peoples bits but it might give you an idea. I can E-mail it to you but is 4 meg so if you have dialup you might hate me. (let me know)

Onsrud is the only one I have found that will give you chiploads for there bits. I spoke with them and they have tested every bit and have charts for them. Everyone else I have asked does not have the data.
You might read this chain too... http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/messages/29/4854.html?1103662573

Kip,
we usually run a .25 single flute compression spiral through .75 plywood w/oak faces at 5" to 7" per second at 16,000 rpm. The difference being we run it in a spindle but you should still be able to achieve similar results.
