Is it possible to remove paint from HDU using a
chemical stripper.

I've used lots of HDU and have not tried but expect you can remove paint from HDU using a chemical stripper, since HDU is chemically inert and accepts most types of paints including automotive paints. The tech folks at the HDU manufacturer can tell you for sure. Try some of the stripper on some unpainted HDU and make sure it doesn't dissolve the HDU. If it doesn't, I'd use it to strip the paint and then wash off any residue before repainting so residue doesn't affect your new paint job. If possible I'd also sand the HDU at least enough to remove a layer of the tiny closed cells that make up the material. There shouldn't be any soak in since the material is millions of closed cells.
