View Full Version : File created in "metric Mode"? Huh?

I recently "upgraded" to PW2.5 and after importing the post processors manually, hoped that things would begin working.

Now I am encountering an error message saying my .sbp file was created in "metric mode" (which apparently I can switch to in sb3 using theVD command which does not seem to respond correctly).

I would prefer to just have my PW 2.5 generate .sbp files in inches, so where do I find this setting?

While there seem to be a number of cool new features associated with the PW2.5 upgrade, getting it to run at the basic level has been exasperating so far.

I have not been able to cut anything I have created using it, and the files are not backward compatible...

I am anxious to try these features, but more so to get my shop back online.

Not so sound too frustrated, but are there further issues others have encountered after this one? Is there a place where I can see the information all in one spot so I can get PW2.5 to function properly so I can begin work again?

I realize these are minor issues, likely about settings, but production has ground to a halt and currently my solution is to re-do a bunch of work in PW 1.x

Dave...
When you generate your toolpath, select the "ShopBot_inch_arc" or similar post processor. You may have selected a metric version, or there may be a naming error. When you upgrade all of your former posts were placed in a ShopBot Old folder along with the new posts.

Where did you get the post procesor you're using from?

All the ones I have show mm and inch in the name when selecting them at the toolpath save stage.

It's the post processor that decides whether the file is inches or mm so if you select one with inch in the name all should be well.

Okay!

I see it, the post processor has a bunch of options including MM or inches and arcs or no arcs

what are arcs BTW?

My basic isue seems to be resolved though!

thanks for the help!

Arcs refers to the way the code is generated for circular arcs. Basically if your drawing has arcs in it then you'll get more efficient machining with the arcs post processor.

As it doesn't have any ill effect on a drawing without arcs in it I use the arcs one for everything.

cool & thanks!

my original configuration worked so well "right out of the box" that I guess I never explored some aspects very much.

Now I rely on the tool quite heavily, and some minor changes threw me for a loop.

THANKS!
