According to my infra red handhelpd, the bearing carrier and the case side of my spindle is reaching 113 degrees. Is that too hot?

3hp single phase Columbo. PRT machine.

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Without knowing what scale you are on I am clueless. Are you in Celsius, Fahrenheit, Rankin or Kelvin?

Sorry about that. 113 degrees Farenheit. It ran all day at about the same temp. It was about 85 deg F in the shop anyway.

John,
Your temp is OK. Here is a link to a thread about the subject. http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/show.cgi?tpc=29&post=67661#POST67661

I have this "rule of thumb", if I can leave my thumb on it its not too hot. 113F is warm but easily bearable.
