Can some one check last months Woodshop News magazine. I swear I saw a new pine product that was suppose to be "treated" but it wasn't the Green treated lumber you see at Home Depot. I also think it was rot, mold, and fire resistant. Anyone else see that product?

There is a type of pine that we've been using in Europe file a while now which might be what you're referring to.

Confusingly for CNC types the product name is "Thermowood".

It's superheated to drive out resins and moisture.

we have a plant in terre haute that treats wood with heat.
it is owned by an amish man from ferndale, in.
ferndale may not be on a map.
he cuts the ballasters for menards for the u.s. in a huge open metal building at his farm. all the machinery is air powered from diesel motors.

once a year in june, he has a massive all day auction there to benefit the amish schools.
it is absolutly in the middle of no where, and about 4000 people show up for the auction.
they have 5 auctioneers going at the same time all day long, selling everything you can imagine. from baked good to horses and mules.
anyway, the last i heard was his heat treated plant was going slow and he had about 3 million invested in it.

no, it is Burkes Garden Wood Products.
owned by melvin stotzfus from ferndale.
i'm sure he has non-amish partners.
i was wrong about the 3 million investment, it was 10 million!
