I ran my shopbot with a vista laptop when I was setting it up. Didn't seem to have any problems. I have Vista 64 home on it.

Jeff,
CompUsa has Acer Netbooks on sale for $239.00. Although they run XP Home I have this set up and it has been working great!

Most of the used or refurbished "businees grade" laptops are pretty good and do not have all the junk loaded on them that Best Buy and W mart does.

The "business grade" usually have a spill proof keyboard and better internal components. With XP they usually run about $300 to $400 .

be careful you need to make sure you can get xp drives for the laptop. this is a must. a older laptop will work. dell's usually will have xp drivers.
I think shopbot will be able to run on vita windows 7 soon.
7 would be best it's faster then xp on the same machine.

Jeff
I bought an Acer with Vista. I was having trouble with lost comm errors. I turned off everything I could find that wasn't neccessary to run the computer. Once I did that, it began to run the shopBot. I have used this for six months now and it seems to be just fine.

Been reading about 7, and it appears to be a better program than Vista, but it is Microsoft. Sure hope they can come out with something better that Vista.

I tried the beta version of windows 7 and it ran better than Vista.
