I am getting ready to bid on a large job that requires a lot of bevel joinery (45 degree to 45 degree to form a 90 degree corner). I have ideas on how to do most of the cutting on the Bot but I need TRUE 90 degree V-bits to make these bevel cuts work properly. An 89 or 91 degree bit won't fit the bill.

Does anyone know of a supplier that can guaranteed 90 degree V-bits that can bevel 1/2" to 5/8" thick solid wood that are exactly 90 degrees, no more and no less?

Thanks in advance,

Don

I have a 90 degree insert V bit from Amana that I bought from Tools Today. It is dead on accurate. I use it to cut miter fold joints in hardwood like you are talking about. If you look at the Amana catalog, there is a note that this bit is not for miter folding. I talked with an Amana tech rep about this, and the bit that they recommend for miter joints is actually 88 or 89 degrees to allow for some adhesive accumulation when gluing things like PVC or HDU. This bit leaves a gap if you are using wood, so be sure to get the true 90. It is very sharp, leaves an excellent finish, and I've been happy with it.

Hope this helps.

Matt

Thank you Matt and Randall.

I sent an email to Gerber hoping for a response. I will check out Amana today.

Thanks again!

Randall,

Looks like Gerber doesn't like to respond to inquiries submitted through their website. I guess I'll go with Amana.

Thanks for your help!
