From Fred @ Centurion Tools it's a 3/8" bit that is cut from 1/2" stock so it fits in a 1/2" Collet. Quite the stout little cutter. I believe that they ill be making this design available in the MM sizes soon also.

Spent yesterday trying it out and even cutting in 1 pass 1/2" CDX at 8 ips with a 12" Z I couldn't see any deflection in the edge quality of the parts.

I have heard alot of rumors and issues with having a 12" Z axis, but, I have yet to prove any of them to be true.

Angus,

Looking at the picture it looks like there is a taper in the 3/8 cutting section of the bit or are my old eyes tricking me into thinking this is an optical illusion?

What thickness of material is it designed to cut on a single pass, or do they have different bits that will cut 1/4", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" material?

Thanks,

Don

It's an optical illusion Don from the way the photo was taken.

It has a cutting length of 1" with the tapered shoulder being 3/4 and the overall length 3".

Not sure on any specific details for other bits that's a question best left to Fred.

Angus, is that 2 flute or a single?
And do you know if he uses a Walters or an Anca to grind these?
