I'm looking for plans, drawings, dxfs of toy crossbow plans. My grandson wants a small version he can shoot small sticks (arrows) with and i'm a little confused about how to make some kind of mechanism for locking the trigger and string. Any advice appreciated

Best advice I can give is don't do it! I believe you can get nerf toys that may satisfy his craving.

It's almost criminal posting that link....BUT, Jack did not ask for advice....

He's made and used several bow and arrow sets himself and been responsible and really doesn't shoot anything sharp from it and i'm a superparanoid about stuff like this anyway and anything he shoots will be rubbertipped with a suction cup. I don't want any full size kind of thing but something along the lines of a rubberband model type thing.

I'd make the bow as a single piece and cut a recess in the stock. The picture above isn't clear that the bow is a single piece.

The trigger is a fulcrum. The top other end slides a bolt forward. The bolt stops a disk from turning. The disk has a pin in it that holds the string. (pull the trigger the disk turns allowing the string to release)

You could make it the size for rubber bands, medical tubing, elastic cord so you don't need any "action" from the bow part and the bow is more decorative then anything. So, in effect it works like a slingshot but looks like a crossbow.

Hay, make one that launches water balloons and let us know.

With ammo being as hard to get as it has been recently, I may have to resort to rubber bands. A lot of them!

A crossbow too.

Over the years as a woodshop teacher I had a few students make that machine gun. It is really cool.

Hey guys,

That's our fellow shopbotter, Ron Toms, that sells the machine guns and trebuchets.

RLT Enterprises (http://www.rlt.com)

Ron does some amazing things with his shopbot and is in the process of building some full-size models of his trebuchets.

I've always wanted to build a garden size trebuchet. Something that will toss some small pumpkins! :-)

Went to order plans for the The Rubberband Machine Gun and it was out of stock. Anyone know where I can purchase them?

Thanks,
Mick
