Just completed this project for a customer. Several of the curved parts were cut using the Shopbot. A lot of it still done the old fashioned way.

The bench is made from quarter sawn white oak and is finished with Deftoil exterior oil finish. It is about 50" wide, weights about 175 lbs. and will comfortably seat the married couple.

very nice Don. What is written on the rings?
Is that glued up white oak on the bot?
How did it cut?
I made some face frames and raised panel doors from white oak, it was really hard.
Thanks for posting pic.

David and Terry,

The interlocking rings have the brides name on one and the grooms name on the other. I wish I knew how to get bigger jpg's that meet the upload size requirements. Any ideas?

Yes, the 6/4 surfaced with a drum sander to about 1.375" white oak was glued into large blanks and then parts were cut out of the blanks. With a 1/4" Onsrud single flute upcut spiral (65-025) running at 18K RPM at about 2 ips with a maximum cut of .1875" per pass it cut like a hot knife thru butter. I couldn't have asked for a better edge when it was done. Very, very clean cut. I only wish I had a deeper cutting upcut spiral when I was cutting this. I do now!

Thank you for the nice comments.

Don,
go to www.xat.com (http://www.xat.com) and download
jpeg optimizer. You can change the kilobyte size and save it as 640x480 and save it as less than 50k. This pic is 16k reduced from 92k

Very well done!

Quarter sawn white oak is one of my favorite materials and machines beautifully with the right bit and feed rate.
