Hi
I searched the archives but I did not find anything, but has anyone ever cut a chess board on their bot or any other method.
Any suggestions would be helpful
Regards,
David

the shopbot is not much of a tool to make a chessboard. my brain is tired so I don't know how many you need. but say glue up side to side 1.5"x1.5"x12" long boards alternate colors. then you cut them, across and glue them up alternating. you are just making a fancy cutting board. you can use the bot to flatten it.

James McGrew can probably give you some pointers on making life size chess pieces (http://www.vectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=5425&hilit=chess&start=19):

David,
You might consider making the squares inlays and leaving a small gap between them. Perhaps maple for white, black walnut for "black", and something in between for substrate which will show in the gaps between the squares and a large margin for the edge. Take care with the grain direction.
It might be rather stunning!

Thank you all for your input, we have to do 200 of them and I was hoping that I didn't have to reinvent the wheel.
Regards,
David.
Can you tell us what method you have decided to go with?
200 is a good number is it not?
