My motto when answering a request from a makers is "It took me a long time to know what I'm doing so how can I expect them to be instant experts".

I think it's good to explain in some detail why you can't make something for the price or what goes into the construction of something. Eventually, more people will appreciate the work we do and have more realistic expectations.

Is it me, or do most of the makers have a very low price, in mind, when they want something made?

I'd like the makers to see some samples of a few jewelry rings, a few carved panels and possibly some odd shaped counter tops - as examples. Included would be a short explanation of each process and the amount of time involved.

Later on, possibly a short movie - of each - so the makers understand how much effort is required.

It isn't you Magic.
The ones I have looked in to don't even cover the cost of the material.
I think eventually the serious buyers will come around and then things will heat up.

Hey guys,

We're talking about this same thing in the Fabbers section of the 100kGarages forum...making sure Makers have realistic expectations. Join in and help us work on it

Bill, I would be glad to help out. I went to the fabbers site but couldn't find any discussions on pricing.
Point us in the right direction.
Thanks
