I have recently seen an ad or picture in a magazine or catalog of a router bit that can be used for drilling. It had a flat brazed carbide cutter on the bottom like a Forstner bit would have in addition to the side cutters. I cannot remember where I found it and need the bit now. Just should have bought it when I saw it, but I procrastinated beyond my memory limit (short). I have tried regular bits with my ShopBot, but get the "brown hole syndrome". Thanks

Mike, not sure of the size you need but I think Amana sells a 5mm drill on a 10mm shank for cabinet hole drilling. They may have other sizes so I would suggest you try them. They are basically a carbide drill bit with a brad point tip. I think your local onsrud dealer probably handles other brands and could direct you.

I need a 1/8" right now. 3/16" and 1/4" would also be handy. Thanks

Aren't those kinds of bits known as "boring bits"? I thought boring bits were designed for drilling at router speeds.
