I vote Khalid as the CNC person for 2009.

He made his own router bits, his own indexer to run on his home made CNC. He built a laser scanner out of a $15 pen laser, an $18 web cam, and a washing machine timer. He has also done most of the development to turn an old sewing machine into a CNC quilter and digital embroidery system. To top it off he also can write PC programs.

Whew! Did I mention he has a full time job and all this is just a hobby and done in his spare time?

Thanks Khalid for sharing your projects and I look forward to what you will come up with next!

Amen... you inspire us all Khalid.

The documentation of your process using the david scanner has been fantastic. A flash of bright light to anyone who would take technology and make it our own. What the creative urge demands.

Did you ever get the bits you needed? I have thought about this several times in passing moments, but sadly I never followed up. Please let us know what would help you out the most.

We need to support your endeavors. Your work enriches us.

Definitely my first choice! First with the CNC and now the embroidery/quilting field. Khalid is constantly coming up with unusual and incredible stuff!

I bought a new embroidery machine and digitizing program for my business about 1 1/2 years ago. Another manufacturer recently bought them out and stopped servicing any of the product, hoping I would 'upgrade' to their stuff (which is about 3 times as expensive). What a ripoff! They bought the company to kill the competition and I'm stuck in the middle...

"What a ripoff! They bought the company to kill the competition and I'm stuck in the middle... " Oh no, you mean Bill Gates is in the embroidery business too!

That also happens in the medical instrument business, the auto business (patents) and the linen business... to name a few.

Sorry about that. Best thing to do is sell it and bite the bullet.

We need to get Khalid to the next Jamboree so we all can shake that mans hand. He is not only built his own equipment, but helped out others with theirs. Where does he find the time?
