Cleaning advice needed

I had to cut some tar roofing material with my favorite knife and wondered if anyone had a hint on how to get tar residue off a knife blade?

Use mineral spirits

WD40 or GoofOff (one of the label removers). Lacquer thinner works, but it is kind of nasty. One of my favorite shop cleaners is denatured alcohol, a moderately innocuous substance.
