View Full Version : Anyone want to trade upgrades? :-)

Well, I landed a job that would benefit greatly from the 7.2 upgrade. It's cutting cherry plaque holders, they are about 11" x 1" and will be very visible. After much tweaking my prototype is good but still shows tooling marks. I'm pulling about every trick in the book I can glean and will still have some sanding to do. I thought it'd be nice to save time and suffering AND have a job pay for the upgrade.

So, I ordered my 7.2:1 upgrade for my PRT Alpha today but I was told it'll be 11/16 before it can ship! The job can't wait that long, still going to do both just seems a shame to suffer all the sanding then install the upgrade :-)

Hmmm... anyone got an upgrade on the way that wouldn't mind trading ship dates?

What is the the upgrade? I don't see it anywhere on SBs site...

There is an upgrade for the PRT Alpha to change the X and Y from 1:1 motors to 7.2:1 motors with 30 tooth pinions. More power and twice the resolution. Cuts smoother, better curves and details etc...

Mine is ordered and paid for with a ship date of 11/16. I have a job that would really benefit from it and figured it didn't hurt to ask if someone else had a closer ship date and might want to trade.

Baltic Birch,
Go to link{http://www.shopbottools.com/teds_report.htm, Ted's Blog} and then scroll down to "Circle Smoothness 'beta' - November 2006" you'll find your info there.

Thanks for the info.

My PRT Alfie works fine as is, so no upgrades for me.

Almost a year owning. If it aint broke.....

I'm still using PW3 3.0. I upgraded to 3.2 and it did not work...... I'm very suspicious of changing anything ...... I love the way my setup works as is!!!
