You know you're a CNC Nerd when you are snowblowing the driveway and you think of it in terms of feed rates and stepovers.

Merry Christmas!

LOL, right after I got my bot I was wiping down the kitchen counters and caught myself thinking I needed a more efficient path with the sponge to accomodate material clearance. Doh.

Happy snow day.

When you find your self running a cut file to vacuum off your table with the dust shoe at the end of the day

When you start looking at random every day objects, see vectors and start thinking about strategies for tool paths to cut them.

When your at the store looking for something and you realize !@%!@% you have a CNC router and that you might as well just make it your self.

When you put all your money into CNC equipment, Computer Hardware, Software, and the blue book value of your car/truck is less than that of your router bits alone. (True Story)

When your at the bar and people ask what you do, you start by saying your a woodworker, but you also do stuff with computers, and robotics, programing, graphics design, etc...

I find myself trying to find the shortest path cutting my yard without hard turns so I can keep my velocity up.

Great minds think alike...

I was snow blowing our driveway last week and thought about it as a simple pocketing operation.

We have a gravel driveway, which doesn't like our snow blower - the gravel gets picked up with the snow and turned into flying projectiles. It's dangerous and broke the snow blower two or three times last winter.

To keep it from digging into the gravel, I tried modifying the snow blower with blocks of wood and even skis, but nothing worked last winter. This year I've added front tires to the blower. I used the bot to make up some custom mounting brackets from UHMW. With one test under my belt, it's looking promising.

If you have ever looked at a clear blue sky and thought the operating system crashed. You may be a nerd.
