well not sure if it is a nut. there is a plate with 4 holes on the bottom of my HSD spindle. it threads into the body. well just as the cut was starting it came loose and was rattling and spinning along the shaft. I got to get ion the habit of hitting the space bar instead of return when such happens. anyway no visible damage but I bet it is not meant to come loose. so off to the tool store with the nut to find a spanner wrench. of course the one they had has too large of pins but it's all they had and cost me 30.00
so I grind away at them to get them to fit then I find the wrench hits the spindle shaft so I have to grind the sides of it.
then I had to screw it on enough to get the wrench on the shaft so I could put a hss bit in and tighten it then hold the bit with visegrips so I could tighten that nut thing.
no real way to put a lot of torque on it. so I used locktite to make sure.
what a goofy thing to happen.
