View Full Version : Gremlins with simple V Carve

I am trying to put a name and number on some parts. However, each time I alter the number in Partworks 2.5, the second carving is much fainter (about half the depth of the first). I have also found that sometimes the bit hovers just over the workpiece and doesn't cut at all.
I can correct by creating a new file and starting again. If I try to adjust the start depth it goes too deep!
The workpieces are all the same thickness.
I would be interested if anyone else has encountered this problem and has a cure.
Many thanks.
Did you just purchase and setup this machine? If so, make sure you have the correct default values set. For my machine and software installation the settings are located here:
C:\Program Files\ShopBot\ShopBot 3\Settings
Pick you machine and run the setup file.

Don:
Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, I cannot find a file for a Buddy 32 in the list. Nor can I find it on the SB website.
Which machine do you have?
Under my installation, under the path I gave you above, I have a directory called: \PRS_ShopBots
In this directory are two subdirectories:
\PRS_alpha_Tools
\PRS_standard_Tools
Depending on whether you machine is an Alpha or a Standard you will use one of those directories. Then you should pick the specific file that matches your machine.
Hope this clarifies for you.
Don
You also may be losing steps by cutting too deep too fast.

Yes, I eventually found it (a senior moment!). Anyway I restored the settings and it is working like a champ.
Again, many thanks for your help; I really appreciate it.
You are most welcome. Have fun bot'ing!
