I've got my puter set to alert me when anything "ShopBot" is posted on the internet.
This came up today and thought you guys would be interested in some micro machining.

Hi Russ!

I tell ya....I can see the day when the average kitchen in an American home is not unlike the Starship Enterprise's "Replicator".

You need a plate? Poooooof!
You need a coffee mug Poooof!
You need another spoon? Pooooof!
You need a garbage bag? Poooof!

People will go to Walmart to buy sintered metal, porcelain powder, and plastic to restock the replicator.

Be a bummer if you could replicate new kitchen cabinets!

Once upon a time I had a software company and we went to MIT to license some code from them. This was many years ago and I saw my first 3d printer there. A couple of years ahead of HP and Cannon! Interesting licensing system they have, we ended licensing several pieces of code that eventually became a couple of successful retail products. I am so glad I am no longer in that type of stress business. Playing with my bot is much more rewarding!

The ShopBot was pretty easy to use- though I've also build my own CNC systems and troubleshoot/maintain/operate about 7 on a daily basis, so I'm probably not the average ShopBot user. My only complaint is that the software leaves something to be desired, though it is better than any other CNC software I've ever used.

That's a comment a guy would make about a girlfriends not software.

Anyway.....got a Shopbot google alert and out pops this interesting article.

I'd like to be dressed in some of this stuff during tax time.
