Looking for a bit of clarification as I am not 100% sure about this.

It is my understanding that when you set move speeds under your bit settings in Partworks or other software those apply when you run the file, and not the speeds set in the Shopbot Control Software.

In addition Will a movement speed setup in Partworks, over ride and exceed the setting in the SB control software, or will the setting in the SB software act as a limit.

its far too early to be worrying about such things... but .. here goes... the speeds in your control software only effect your moves and jogs in the control software.. unless of course you have written your own program and have not specified feed and speed then what you set in the window will become default.. not completely sure about that as I have not tried it..
The speed set in partworks or other programs will control the speed regardless of the setting in the control software.. if you open up one of your files in the editor you will see close to the beginning of the file an instruction... MS,0.7,0.5
this is from one of my files.. it sets the feedrate to 0.7 inches per second and the plunge rate to 0.5 ips.. that should make it clear as mud

Thanks Mitch, that answered my question.

here's another question, I hear you guys talk about changing the speeds by ear when a part is running. Can you change the speeds while cutting (shortcut key?) or do you quite file, change speeds, and restart file at last line? That's what I do...

Rudy - While running a file, you can hit 'Shift' and then either the '<' or '>' keys to increase or decrease the speed. The speed will change by .1 in/sec each time you hit the keys. This new speed will stay in effect through the rest of the file. It will not change the speed set in the Shopbot control software. (I am pretty sure that you use the Shift key, if it doesn't work try Ctrl or the Alt key.)

its the shift key

Be careful with that as the ramping speed and distance stays the same, so if you raise the speed too much you can "slam" into corners.

Watch out if you stop your cut to make a bit change or for what ever reason and then use the go to comand it will run from your control setting speeds.

My machine does this I am not sure if they all do the same. For example if I stop in the middle of a tool path and decide to change bits or change the depth of cut. When I restart from that line it uses the move speeds shown on the screen and not the speed specified for that tool when you created the file.

I believe I understand why that happens it is because you have started the file past the point where it sets the control speed in the file. It is no big deal if you know it will happen. All you need to do is change the speeds to match your desired speed for that tool path. You will need to change it back when you are done if you want your default control speeds.
