This question should probally be posted in troubleshooting, but I thought it may get more atttention.

I have a PRS alpha Buddy 32x24 purchased early 08,so am a rather inexperienced user.Basically followed the get started and "everything" went ok. Early on I had to reset the "movment" values so it shifted the correct distance. Wrote them down but now can not find them or remember what to do.
The problem,
I am doing a very straight forward job, cutting a rebate/trench accross some 2"x4" material. I basically stack them side by side, clamp and tell the machine to go to the centre (14.96") and cut the trench which it has been doing. Cut approx 1000 to date. Yesterday cut 150 or so and finished up for tea. Shut machine down as usualand ready to restart today. Stared the machine today as normal, loaded the same file, on a memory stick and went to cut the first 10. The spindle only travelled approx 9.5" but said it had gone 14.96" which it should have and was going to cut the rebate. I have reset everything and retried several times. Most times it shifts approx 9.5" but has also shifted only 1.5" a couple of times. When you tell it to jog home it hits the prox swithes as it tries to return the 14.96" but in fact has only gone 9.5".
I have reloaded the firmware and speed test is in the low 70's.I think that I am using version 3.5, the 2nd to last version of the control software.

Any thoughts or how to remedy this problem would be very much appreciated, but please, if you have the answer walk me through what to do as I'm fairly thick.

Could it be grounding? Been alright untill now.

Thanks ANYBODY.

Roger.

Did you move the machine any by hand after it was shut dwon for the night? If so it looses home. Just a thought. I do a C3 to set my 0,0 to start each day. I thought of this becasue you said it tried to go home and hit the prozy switches. That tells me it doesn't know where home is.

Hi,

Jerry, Kenneth, thank you both for your replies.
Problem solved. Somehow the unit values had changed(gremlins)Rang Frank at Shopbot and he gotme sorted, thanks Frank, with the correct values.

Back in action and everything is sweet. It is a boring job but ongoing by the thousands and pays the bills.

Thanks,
Roger.

Roger,
I have the same machine you do and was experiencing various gremlins until I did two things. First I made certain that the contoller case is grounded firmly to the Shopbot body. Second, and this is the most mysterious part, I rotated the Porter Cable router so that the brush vent holes are aligned along the X axis. Yeah, go figure. So far, all problems solved.
