Spindle Amps

Can anyone tell me how many amps the 4hp spindle actually draws?

My 3hp spindle draws anywhere from 3A to 7A, depending on what I'm cutting and how hard I'm driving the cutter. That roughly equates from about 1hp to about 2.25hp.

The formula that I use is (Current X Voltage) / 746 = Horse Power.

With my hold-down system, I can't drive the cutter any harder than that without having the material move on me.
