Just being a ShopBotter means you have many opportunities to publicize your company or your business through the ShopBot network. Remember though, there are always other opportunities to let us help your business succeed. We’re always looking for ShopBotters to feature in our ads and on our website. It’s a very easy process; unfortunately, it’s something that not a lot of ShopBotters take advantage of. As I do regularly, I’m going to include a brief list of all the ways ShopBot can help get you some attention. They’re all free; they just require a little work on your part to make them happen. I know many of our customers are still feeling the economic squeeze, and I can’t stress enough how important it is to set yourself apart. Most marketing opportunities involve a significant up-front expense, but let me reiterate, these opportunities are 100% free, except for your time and effort to make them successful.

1. Submit your press release to ShopBot. You’re already submitting regular press releases to your local media, RIGHT? If not, you should be. Press releases are a great, FREE way to get your message out there. Need some help writing a press release? Go here: http://www.publicityinsider.com/release.asp. Need even more help? Send me the draft (dave.m@shopbottools (mailto:dave.m@shopbottools)) and I’ll go over it for you and make suggestions if necessary. After it’s finalized and you’ve sent it to your local paper and/or TV station, make sure I get a copy of the final. Major publications are always looking for story ideas. If you’re doing something great, I’ll make sure to share it with the editors. If you’ve recently gotten press coverage on your own, let us know so we can include it in our ShopBotters in the News section: http://www.shopbottools.com/pressmedia.htm.

2. Write a column. We have several ShopBotters who contribute regular articles for our Web Columns section on the website: http://www.shopbottools.com/web_columns.htm. If you’re interested in writing your own regular column or just submitting an article as a guest columnist, please do so. You’ll even get some ShopBot credit so you can buy new stuff for your Bot!

3. Spotlight on ShopBotters. Maybe you’re involved in a charity project. Maybe you’re doing something with your ShopBot that no one has ever done before. Let us know. Send us a few photos of yourself and your ShopBot along with a short story about what’s going on in your shop. We’ll link to your website and talk about all the cool stuff you’re doing. http://www.shopbottools.com/spotlight.htm.

4. Submit to our Applications page: http://www.shopbottools.com/applications.htm. From cabinet and signmaking to boat building and prototyping, ShopBotters are putting their CNCs to work on all sorts of applications. Send us a photo and your website URL, and we’ll get you on the list.

5. Star in one of our ads. We pay for advertising space. Guess what. You don’t have to. Spend a little time, and you can be guaranteed some serious national exposure. Send us five-10 high-resolution photos, a biography of you and your business, let us know what you’re doing with your ShopBot, and give us your website address. We’ll put together a ShopBot ad featuring you and your business, complete with your bio, a quote and your website. It will appear in a national woodworking, sign or DIY publication. It’s your own national advertising campaign at absolutely no cost to you.

All of these things are simple, free ways to help set your business apart from your competitors. We consider all ShopBotters part of the ShopBot family, and your success means our success.

Thaaaannk you Dave! Marketing and associated resources are a vital (and neglected) part of most businesses. These are tangible actions the SB community can take advantage of right away.
