I ordered 4 pinions from shopbot. after getting the electrical glitches solved i found the pinions were worn.
so I order the 4 tell them to ship priority mail so I can get them in decent time. well the mail had already gone out so they will ship the next day. next day I get a shipping notice for 2 pinions and that they were shipped fedex.
I called up and yes they goofed and only shipped two and they were supposed to be shipped USPS. so they will ship out the other two. well next day same thing shipped two fedex. hey if your gonna goof at least ship the fedex the same day. Plus I think they charged me for shipping again.
I just had to give them a hard time about it.
the difference in ship time is I would have had the parts Saturday or Monday at the latest verses wed and friday now.

I make shipping mistakes myself but I always pay to fix them, I never charge the customer again. I even shipped the wrong bat house to a customer. I let him keep it and shipped the correct one at no charge. For me, it just makes the most sense and we've had more repeat business than I ever expected as well as referals. Not so much commenting as just sharing.

LOL, this reminded me, I ordered an item that had a 100% money back guarantee including shipping AND it came with a return shipping label too. It arrived short shipped, I called, they sent the rest of the parts and charged the same shipping again, also had a return label in it. I shipped it all back and I did get 100% of my money back. Where they asked "Reason for the Return" I wrote something like I don't like doing business with insane people.

Well in defense, Amanda has a lot more responsibilities other than shipping and sometimes it happens.

But I agree it should be their expense to fix it.

I guess you have learned the old saying "the squeaky wheel(in this case pinion) gets the grease" right?
They shipped a 4 ft wide carriage to me when i ordered a 5ft one and I got the right one the next day on a truck. So they probably could improve in the shipping dept. at least they accept responsibility when they are wrong.

You might have saved yourself the grief and just called them first off. I'd bet that they would have issued that credit even sooner.

SB does not pay the light bill selling pinions. They do it by selling machines & they sell machines by word of mouth. Therefore, they serve us (even if we have second hand machines) so that we will serve them. Customer service as a business model is brilliant.

I guess what I'm saying in this digital age>>> Let human ring...

I don't agree with you Rob. Shopbot does a great job and there are few complaints but without any, it's hard for a supplier to either benchmark themself or improve and, it can lead to complacency (leading to much greater failure). I believe that factual, fair and polite "airing" such as this one or Erik's recent Buddy Powerstick issue help both SB and us.

I agree with Gerald that it is important to a manufacturer to know when they fall short of a customer's expectations but I don't feel this forum is the place to air their shortcomings.

As an old guy, I was brought up to "Praise in public, Criticize in private".

I think that most of the users of this site feel that they are just having a discussion with a group of friends and that is a good thing.

However, many people, myself included, use this site when determining which machine to purchase. If we use this forum to communicate our issues with ShopBot, rather than going directly to the company, prospective purchasers may form a negative opinion about the company and their products. This will have a negative effect on the value of our Bots.

I look at it like Stuff happens! No one died , no one was injured and i bet it was shipped by a person just like the rest of us, human. People make mistakes, look at their side . How much stuff does shopbot ship? I used to be an Auctioneer and would sell to 3 to 4 hundred buyers and i was only one seller, people would get mad when i would ocasionally miss their bid but there was only one me and 400 them. I know that things are fustrating when your order is not correct but the sun will come up tommorrow. As far as the second shipping cost i agree that it should not have been charged . maybe their computer did it automatically , who knows?
I like to treat people as i would like people to treat me.

hey guys I never said I was mad. I never was worried about getting money back. I have done worse at shipping.
so I was not really venting just thought it was a bit silly.

My two cents. I ship almost daily and most of it by FedEx and they stop by and pick it up from me. Now if I get a request to ship by the Post Office I have to stop work get in the truck drive 10 miles one way to the Post Office stand in line wait 10 to 20 minutes and then drive back 10 miles, and go back to work. Now how do you think I like to ship, but to keep the customer happy I will do it. As the old saying goes the customer is right always.

USPS also picks up just like FEDEX and UPS. Just open an online account and no more going to the post office. We also ship everyday and our customers have all the choices.

Plus the post office is usually faster. priority mail can be the next day or two or three days. Plus some free supplies boxes and such.

A large percentage of the time, when someone ships me something via the post office, it is lost and I never receive it. It is never fast, I try and avoid it.

I have shipped thousands of packages through the mail and received countless ones. I may have had one package lost but I never found the mailing receipt so i was never sure. priority mail is pretty reliable.
I have received packages the next day with priority mail or in two days.
I have shipped all over the world without problems.

ok now for a good laugh. shopbot gave me a 10.00 credit for shipping. I just got it today and guess what it was for 100.00 I knew I was important but not this important.
now to get the money returned.

When I fix a mistake the shipping sometimes costs me more then what I made in profit.

My experience.
Small packages sent by priority international mail get there unless you're shipping to Russia ad the price is right - if it fits in the envelope

England customs looks up your product and charges 75 percent duty even if it's a gift or charitable donation. I am not going to include instructions or packaging, in the future, and send the instructions by Email.

In the US. UPS charges more then Fedex and breaks more items, more often. I pack them the same way for fedex and UPS. UPS doesn't care. Unless you have a big account. good luck trying to collect if they used your package as a stepping stool or put it under an anvil during shipping.

The post office can't deliver my mail to me correctly. I get mail that was meant for someone else a block away. And they loose things. I sent a package 25 five miles - it took them 29 days. A month ago I got a Christmas card that was sent in 07.

As far as Shopbot. I can't complain. They have their heart in the right place and have been good when I need something.
