I would like to start up a web site to show my products. I would like to have my own domain name for it. Any help on how to get my domain name and a good place to set up my own web page? I have some computer skills. Any help would be appreciated.

Contact your local ISP for information on setting up a domain name. If that service is not available from them, try www.Register.Com (http://www.Register.Com) or www.Networksolutions.com (http://www.Networksolutions.com).

Ron,

I use DOTEASY.com. It's easy to set up, has tons of web space and costs about $25 per year.

I use http://www.websitehosting.net/ for my site. Brian is really easy to get your ideas accross and he takes care of many of the small things. I now have two web sites and he has been a great help on both.

Ron,

These are all good suggestions. I would add that we have been running our business for five years primarily through our website. There are a number of things to consider that are not always obvious and I would like to see you not make some of the errors (or learning experiences) we made along the way! So it you are interested give me a call and I would happy to help you get going. I can be reached at 832-497-9547.

Regards,

Greg

Hi Greg,

I am very interested in your web site learning experiences. Could you share some on the forum. Great job with cypressstools.com

Ron,

Looking back at my experience, here is what I would do.

Find a Web-site you are crazy about. One that would sell your product, and call the designer and see what they would charge to help you. You may be very surprized. It's only a call. Why not just see before you jump into a very specialized trade.

I've allways come out ahead, with specialized services, hiring professionals.

You can get great 24Hour live customer service at great rates from godaddy.com. The are used by many very large corporate entities for hosting, web mail, and template based web site creation. You may also want to peruse the many templates available at monstertemplate.com The "asis" te4mplates are very reasonably priced and I understand they don't kill you for modifications for semi-custom
