View Full Version : New set up, new bugs to work out

I just moved my machine to a new building, and it is all set up. It was running fine, 10+ hours of milling until I realized the bolt was sticking out too far on the aluminum rails and sheared off my proximity sensor. I removed it, and now I am having lost communication issues. I turned the sensors off, and my speed test was at 76.2% efficiency. Not sure what else to check. My machine isn't grounded, could this be the culprit?

I have also built a control station that houses a subpanel, my control box, the computer and switches for the vacuum table, d.c., and one for the control box. Lots of power wires running inside. Looks great, but could this be causing electrical interference?

Even with everything off, I am still loosing coordinates, and frequent sudden stops when running the machine in x or y.

Seems simple, but I have run through all my ideas, now I need some help!

Justin;
Are you running the same computer. I had these problems until I stripped out all unnecessary software - including everything that had the Norton/Symantec name on it. Shutting it off didn't work as parts still run in the background and periodically mess with communications. That stuff just kills the Bot.
I had some other communications problems until I cut open my neat tie wraps and spread out some of the wires. I had been careful about separating motor cables, but had neatly coiled my extra USB cable, etc - seems neatness and digital communications are not happy company if it means cables coiled or running together.

Is your ground making good contact?

I don't have the machine grounded to anything. I have never had it grounded over the past 2 years.
