I finally bought the 4G controller for my older PR machine. I am wondering about the conversion.

What did you use for connectors at the box?

Did you change the motor wires or where you able to use the existing ones?

What pinions are you using on the motors?

I still have the ball screw Z. Did you upgrade the motor on it? I have some extra motors that are the same size as the X and Y that I thought I could put on there if necessary...

Any tips or observations would be appreciated.

Thanks,

RIB

I followed the instructions that Shopbot gave me. The wago connections at the box came with the upgrade. Make sure that the white and yellow wires are cut and isolated from each other. I kept my ball screw z. My unit had the belt drive gear box and I had to really boost the unit values up. My PR went from 1.79 IPS to 5 IPS and you can run the latest software. The crew at Shopbot can talk you through the upgrade.

Thanks for posting Jerry. What motors are you running? Did you change the small ball screw motor?

Do you remember how many teeth there are on the pinions?

No I kept all the motors as they were. The one thing I did notice is that my PR seems to be more accurate than my PRS Standard. I would have to check the teeth on it.
