Painting Extera

Does anyone have any hints on painting Extra. Primer type?
I have searched but could not find what I needed.

Michael,
I know that Joe Crumley has covered this before, but in my experience with the material shellac was the only stuff that seemed to penetrate the water resistant coating they use. After you have the shellac on it you could use just about any primer ( OR depending what your finish will be just use the shellac as the primer...).
