Hi all,

I found a couple of threads 2-4 years old about this, but wanted to check the current specs. The old threads seemed to indicate that the temp spec was 80 degrees C.

My XY stepper motors seem to be running hotter than I remember - too hot to hold for long. Anyone know what temperature they are supposed to run?

Thanks,
Ron

We cut a large 8 ips spiral pattern that on +85F days would quickly drive the steppers above 220F. Not good. Ted suggested decreasing the driver current to 1/2 which fixed the overheating with no loss of performance.

So how do you set them and what are they at now? Mine get hot, but never 220F, however you have me thinking!

On this early production PRS Alpha the current was set to maximum. It's been a while since I did the change but the current adjuster trim pot is on the face of each driver module in the Alpha control box. I suggest checking with ShopBot tech support for up to date info on this before making any changes.
