Apparently the owner of this store moved into a smaller location but never had a smaller sign made.

The really funny part is that this shop is in Newport Beach..... so you think he could afford to make a new one...

Here is a second view - Notice the fancy workmanship on the strut.

Maybe it's shabby, but...It does clearly communicate, doesn't it?

There is a flickr group with some great photos of unintendedly bad signage (the bad logo project) not for the faint of heart

Shoe Repair is a great sign, just poorly installed. But it conveys the message quickly and is easily read. Not Joe's quality, but still effective. Some idiot just can't put it up! Kids sex change and some of the others don't convey the correct message - or probably don't. Thanks for posting - bit of humor this morning was great.

You can't argue that the KidSexChange sign gets your attention and puts it in your memory. I thought that was the goal of a sign???

So, on purpose or stupid mistake?

What the sign conjures up is kids/sex which is not the kind of images you want your store to be associated with. At best it looks like a store you go to trade in your bratty kids for new ones. I can't imagine that someone in the decision making process didn't see that. Even if they had changed the s to a z or seperated the words. Idiots...

Simple - Marketing verses sign making. We are lucky enough to have sign artists participating in this forum. They have spoiled us.

In the event I have offended anyone else, let me add that my comment was not on the topic, but how advertisers use tricks to get our attention. We'll never know in this case and hopefully it was stupidity.

In the case of shoe repa

The sign is too short for the light box.
