This is a soffit that was cut in three panels in a SB prt
@40 hr drawing in cinema 4D (in a very slow computer)
@85 hr cut time.
@30 hr clean up and sanding
Will have an indirect light between the ceiling and the soffit
Carved area size is 95"x95" in 1.25" alder
Vector file is 400mb
Outsourced the final clean up and sanding to a master carver to make it look just hand made.

My complements with the project. I haven't attempted work of this size but know the design must have been quiet a challenge. Once you finished the illustration, what software did you use to generate the cut files and were there any hitches you had to work around?
Are you using Illustrator as the deign program?
Alder is an interesting choice. I know this wood comes in several grades. It can be very textured and knoty. Excellent choice with this grade.
