New to me PR96 controller advice.

I recently purchased a rack driven PR96 (waiting for it to arrive) the tool has PK296A1A- SG3.6 geared steppers but no controller. In the future i plan to upgrade to a high voltage capable drive (gecko or leadshine) however i would like some imput as to wheather this drive:

would be acceptable to move my motors until invest in a heavy duty controller. Realisticly i dont expect perfomance of tools equiped with 4g controllers from this setup but for 3d work in wood and foam i think this will allow me to get some use out of my new toy for the time being.
