    Default 'Pottery Barn' Finish

For those of not you familiar with this store's wares, they do a lot with MDF in their furniture. I've been asked by a client to match the finish on one of thier pieces. It is a black finish of some sort. I don't know if it's paint, or laquer or what? What it is, is very smooth, very hard, kind of a dull sheen to it. On their web site, they claim they use a "10 step" process to achieve the finish, and then put on a clear coat.

Has anybody seen this stuff, and know how they do it?

Any ideas/products to try would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Matt,
I know I read somewhere both Pottery Barn and IKEA both use powder coating on some of their items. It didn't mention specifically which items had powder and which this "10 step" process, but you might be looking at powder coating which is very impressive on the mdf.
