    Default Spindle control questions

If you run a spindle, do you have it running through the ShopBot control box?

If not, why did you go that route?

Do you wish you had done anything different now?

Is there something other than the springs on the Z and the fan power supply that you needed?

    Thanks

    Ed,
I run my 3-hp Colombo through the Shopbot control box. The control box runs the power to the spindle through a contactor (relay) so that if the machine needs to be shut down NOW, it also shuts off the spindle. By-passing the control box would require you to manually stop the spindle in case of emergency.

Another way I'm considering but am not promoting is to use another output with it's own relay. The idea is to bypass the double/redundant use of two output for safety purpose. I just get very annoyed to reach the start button on the control box... but I do agree that it's very safe in an environment where more than one operator have access to the machine.
