    Default Second Locomotive Project

A couple years ago, a railroad fan magazine asked us to build a 6 ft tall "face" of a steam locomotive for their trade show display. This year they asked us to build another one - a six plus foot tall, lighted version of the "Southern Crescent" diesel locomotive. The toughest part was making it durable enough to survive the little kids who came to the public session of the show!

Our main business has evolved into railroad artwork that is mostly cut on lasers. (www.stoddartsltd.com) It was a nice change of pace to fire up the Shopbot for a larger version!

I recall your first one that was very cool. What might be a very cool addition to this or your next one is to have just in back of the locomotive face is to have the arch of the face of a tunnel with black underneath to make it look like the tunnel is against the wall and the train is emerging out of the tunnel.
    great job!

That is a wonderful train. You did an outstanding job.
How many hours did you put into cutting the parts out. had to be in the hundreds.
what types of material did you use...//

wish I had your talent for that.
