Default Probe indicator light not lighting

I tried to use my shopbot probe for the first time this weekend. Installed in the spindle, pluged into the wago with the zzero plate, and nothing. Indicator light #1 would not light. When I manually moved the probe tip I would get an error message on the computer screen. I am going to go over all the wiring on Monday, especcialy the ground to see if that is the problem. Just wondering if anyone else had had a problem like this and what you did to fix the problem. Thanks Shawn

    Hi Shawn

Do you still have the grounding clip from the ZZero plate attached to the bot ?. If I am not mistaken the zzero works on a normaly open cuircut and the probe is a normaly closed cuircut .

    Shawn,
How many wires are there coming out of the probe? 1st & second gen. have 2. The optical has 3, with the addtional wire requiring 5v from the input block.

    Hey Shawn,

What was the error message that you got when you touched the tip?

    I got a "Data Error"
    Then a "time overun"
and I think the third error was a comunication problem.

I got an email from Grant this morning about checking the wiring. I got out the manual and traced the zzero wire and switched the ground and input to match what was in the manual. I am now geting the input light to come on when I plug in the probe, but it will not go out when the probe tip is deflected. But no longer getting error messages. Any ideas? Thanks Shawn

Does your z-zero plate work correctly when the probe is not connected...does the indicator light come on when you touch something that's grounded?

My z-zero works just fine. After spending about 30 min on phone with Grant this afternoon it was determined that through error on someones part, still not sure if mine or theirs, that the probe and the z-zero wago conectors were wired diferentlt and that basicly the input wire on the probe was conecting to the power. This burned up the probe, and I am sending it in for a warenty repair. When it comes back I am going to make sure all wire colors match at the comector before pluging in.
