Anybody want to voice an opinion on whether or not this might be worth getting (depending on final price)

ER16 tops out at just over 3/8" max tool shank diameter...I'd keep looking.

I wasn't sure, they said it came with 3/8 collet, didn't know if that meant that was max size collet, or if you could use different size collets with that spindle.
I know nothing about spindles but don't you also have to have some type of control box that i'm sure you would have to buy also?
Yup, you would need a VFD to control the spindle.
Not only is it limited by collet size, 17,500rpm is pretty fast and may not let you slow the spindle down to appropriate speeds for all cuts and materials.

Thnaks guys - thats why I asked, to find out these things. Would have been nice to save a ton of money. I priced some VFD's. Again, thanks for the info.
Here's another 5hp spindle listed by a shopbotter on ebay... Item no. 160222607810. No VFD, but a huge savings over new.
Scott: Read down on his listing and you will see the VFD is included. Depending on total hours on it (possible bearing wear) This could be an excellent buy for someone wishing to upgrade.
Right you are. All of you 'botters without a spindle should check this out. Your ears and your wallets will thank you. I paid $5K for my Colombo 5hp.
