Default Anyone know how to fill letters in artcam?

I am doing a bunch of laser engraving but in artcam it only does outlines. I need the whole letters filled. Is there a fairly easy way to do this? Seems that an incredible piece of software would have this simple function, but I could not find it.

I only get text letters with outlines not solid. I can easily cut them out solid but it will not make them solid to export to a laser machine as EPS or DXF

is there any kind of flood fill option for the interior of the letters? If nothing else could you do a vector outline of the letters and cut the interiors that way?

Try using a different font for testing and see if it will do what you want then. There are some fonts that are just outlines and not filled letters, maybe you are using one of them?

Danny, pick up a copy of CorelDraw (pretty good prices on ebay) or check out the free Inkscape program. Much more suited to what your wanting to do than AC.

    Danny:

You can fill in the letters visually with flood fill selected vectors.
This will not direct your laser to engrave the entire interior of the letter however.
You can create the relief and then save it as a grayscale BMP. Your Laser should be able to work with that for engraving. (Darker the shade, deeper the cut)
Do a google for "Artcam for laser engraving" and you will get some helpful hits.

Danny - the other software that may be of interest is called PhotoGraV. I use it all the time and have been very satisfied.

pulling my hair out lol.. I am on an extremely tight timeline. It is for new logos for my new e-bike motors. I am already 10 days behind and $16k in pre orders. Once customers start cancelling im going to be in rough shape.

I bought corel drawX5off of ebay and it will not export as anything artcam will open. it will export as dxf etx but it is still just outline.

It seems to me that with $1k software someone would have thought of this?

Looking for a trial version of some sort of laser software

    Default Laser

If you are wanting the logos for lasering why are you exporting to Artcam? You just be able to send the file to the laser from Corel using the print comand. What Kinda Laser are you using?

    Hi Danny,

You do all your work in Corel and then send it to the laser just like your printing it. Depending on the laser red lines that are a hair width are normally cutting lines for cut outs and black lines or fill areas are for rastering, in the print driver property box you should be able to set the power and speed for each color.

You can call me if you like I have two laser I cut and engrave with all the time. I use Corel draw with both of them.
