Looking for a How-to for Raised Letters

I have done a couple of projects with letters cut down from the surface. I have yet to figure out how to make a project where I cut the surface down and leave the area of the letters uncut giving the effect of the letters being raised. Does anyone know of any instructional material for such a project?

Presumably you're using VCarve or PartWorks?

My favorite raised letter technique is to pocket and insert individual letters. One advantage of this is that you can finish them separately and then assemble. (Be sure to allow enough slop for paint film thickness). Another advantage is that if there is a flaw in material or workmanship of any one (or more) letter, you just make a new one!

Impressed with your work on Texas Steve! Chaz this is a great way to do signs. Can be a bit tricky understanding the pocket clearance and Vectric dont explain it easily. I wrote on tge wall "-" in front of allowance makes pocket BIGGER. Once I got the hang of that no problems at all. Its a good move to learn about texturing as this can cover a multitude of sins and just looks so professional.
