Recently upgraded SB PRT Alpha to 2.2 hsd spindles. As I am understanding spindles I am having to be a bit more considerate to the machine and spindle lifespan.
---Wanting to achieve. A simple 5/8 round cup type hole that a 5/8 marble would set in nicely. Like in a board game. Eastern Red Cedar is material
---Old way was to chuck 5/8 straight ball nose up in the Porter Cable and drill the hole .375 deep. Just blow and go.
---New way for the HSD 2.2 spindles should be? ... Please No hugely laborious suggestions. We gotta make 2k of these things but don't want to unnecessarily tax the working life of our spindles. We just need a goto technique on how to approach these type of drilling applications.
