Brady, what tool did you use to cut the LPs'? Would you do it again? Did you inscribe anything on them? Sounds like a cool result and an interesting challenge.
Thanks for the info-that makes a lot of sense. I have never used the pod before it just seemed like a gadget that I needed to make life easier. It sounds like vcarving will be a breeze with a pod....
How do you set it up so that you can cut cleanly thru a part but not cut into the surface of the vac clamp or the gaskets? I do not want to ruin it on my first pass!
This forum is great for beginner questions but many of the people have larger format machines. I have had one in my school for about a year now (middle school) and I learn something every time I use...
And thanks to you and Bill Young for being so informative and willing to engage all of us! I had a wonderful experience and was able to implement some ideas already as I plan to get my students...
Looking forward to Saturday's camp but I cannot remember the details. It is at Makerworks. What time?
Looking for things my students can do on our Shopbot Desktop when I ran across the "Phlatboyz" and their CNC machine.

A camp in Ann arbor would be AWESOME! Please, please, please make it happen and I am in.
Steve, those are some pretty amazing examples! Is that marble? I am glad I got the drag bit with the start-up kit if we can do stuff that cool!
Thanks for the support guys! I do have a diamond drag bit so I put it to work today and I am much happier with the results on the dog tags. I know a laser would be awesome but I am pretty lucky to...
I usually learn by doing and figuring out but now I need it to work so I am asking for some guidance.
Objective: personalized engraved metal tags
Machine: Shopbot Desktop
Material: Anondized...
Thanks for all the hard work! As a newbie the information is really helpful.
Some other questions I have had as a novice include:
Can all/any router bits be used in my CNC machine? What are the...
Of course you all figured out I meant "Text" depth! Thank you for the hints. I got some stuff figured out and will post a collection of photos soon.
I am branching out from the pre-made designs and have not quite figured out what controls the depth of plain lettering. It seems like something on the preview looks nice and deep/thick and when I go...
Marketed for the "eco" nursery. Looks like they are laser cut but an easy conversion.

I second that 2 cents so now you have 4 cents suggesting gears and gear systems. ;-)
Thanks for all the info everyone! I am currently running a school environment off my school issued laptop which is running all sorts of other stuff that I probably cannot control. I may have PC at...
New Desktop keeps dropping the connection to the machine and I get the "Missing Comm" error. How do I prevent that from happening? If it does happen, I have to re-zero everything when I get it back...
I too was confused about which bit was which. Apparently the numbers listed in the tool database are ShopBot part numbers and the one you are showing is not in the Onsrud catalog. By process of...
Thanks for the info, Jon. I have been studying your videos and get what you are talking about. There is so much to learn and I am loving it! I figured you would be a good resource since you are...
Thanks for the photos-that looks like the perfect set up for my students to crank out things that can be customized quickly for other students. What kind of plastic are you using?
I love this...
Just got a new ShopBot Desktop, my first CNC machine! Since I have enjoyed looking at all the work posted on this forum, I wanted to share my take on the vectric tutorial for the "Bullshead" sign....
My first CNC machine and my first post! This forum has been a treasure trove of learning!
Teaching in a middle school and had a donation that allowed me to purchase a Shopbot Desktop unit. Loving...
